Release Your Inner Handler!

What Exactly is a Handling Class?

Conformation handling classes allow dog handlers the chance to practice their dogs in a
controlled show-like setting, learn basic ring patterns and work with the instructor to improve
their ring presence.  Classes are held on rubber matted floors to allow for good footing. Come
to class prepared to work with your dog.  Chuck's no-nonsense teaching style isn't for the timid
student... but the results will show in the ring!  Come see for yourself why his classes are
packed with eager new students each week.

Meet Chuck Murray ~

Chuck Murray, has been involved in the sport of showing dogs since the late 1960's after
discovering he had a love and talent for the sport.  His first show dog, a female Rhodesian
Ridgeback, started him on his successful path.  Soon he had friends asking him to handle their
dogs in the ring and was eventually in demand as a talented handler.  For twenty years, Chuck
showed dogs in all seven Groups, finishing dogs in every breed he has shown.  Over the years,
Chuck has earned the respect of exhibitors, judges and the entire dog fancy.

For the past 29 years, Chuck has been teaching the skills he has learned to literally thousands
of exhibitors.  Helping novice and experienced handlers learn how to better their ring presence
is what Chuck knows best.  Having personally shown dogs from L.A. to New York, Chicago to
Houston and back to the Northwest, his methods have helped countless handlers present their
dogs professionally on the road to obtaining numerous Championship titles, Group
placements and Best In Show awards!

Known by many as the handler with "Magic Hands", Chuck readily shares his wisdom and
experience with those eager to learn the ins and outs of competitive show rings across the U.S.
Chuck's hands-on way of thinking, and his ability to convey and share these methods with his
students truly helps handlers get a feel for
their dog.  His simple philosophy is this;
You must first SEE your dog, don't just LOOK.  Second, you must FEEL your dog, don't just
TOUCH.  And most importantly, TRUST your dog and trust yourself.

Working with Junior  Handlers is one of Chuck's passions.  Helping the young up-and-comers
find their comfort zone with their first dog brings him great pride.  He relishes in their small
accomplishments along the way and savors the bigger victories by sharing them in class.
From Best Junior Showmanship awards, to qualifying for Westminster to winning Best In Show
awards, the Juniors he has worked with have had much success in all areas of showing.
Chuck truly mentors the younger handlers while encouraging them to strive for success in the
ring.  Beginners are always welcome in Chuck's classes!

Chuck and his wife, Joyce, reside in Eagle Creek, OR with their three dogs.
Meet Mark Strever ~

Mark Strever assists Chuck in class each week by acting as "the judge", going over dogs, and
working with the class on various exercises.  Having a second set of hands allows students
more opportunities to have their dogs examined and Mark often has helpful handling tips to
share while Chuck works with other students.  Your dog will learn from Mark that judges are
friendly people.  His calm manner will put even the most nervous beginners at ease.

Mark actively shows Briards and is involved in local dog clubs.
